FACT ABOUT FEMALE BABIES

Did you know that for a baby girl, at birth baby has all the eggs it will have in her life time?

This is why we say your maternal grandmum carried you in her womb whilst pregnant.

It could explain why grandmums can love without limit❤️

It also means once you are pregnant, be aware you are not only carrying your baby but your grand children as well if baby is a female.

That’s why you should take good care of yourself during pregnancy.

Eat right, avoid unprescribed medications and stay healthy!

MY BIRTH STORY – IF YOU ARE BOOKED FOR C/S AND LABOR STARTS REPORT IMMEDIATELY!

My bundle of Joy arrived yesterday at 3.0kg
The night before yesterday I couldn’t sleep,
The contractions were continuous with severe abdominal pains
Since I was just 36 and somedays , I thought it was false labor
Fast forward yesterday morning, I vomited everything I ate nd was very weak, I called my Doctor nd he asked me to rush to the hospital which I did.

I had already dilated 2cm but since I opted for elective CS , I was rushed to the theatre nd within 10-15 minutes… I heard her first cry
A beautiful fair Angel was smiling at me like she’s met me before 😊😊
Thanks to all the beautiful patient midwives on this platform and Congratulations in advance to all expectants
May God is through ❤️❤️❤️
I love you all 💕💕💕💕💕…..

Sally.. Just want to take the opportunity to encourage everyone out there if you have been booked for caesarian section and labor sets in before the scheduled date. Kindly call your doctor immediately. It may be fatal if you have a condition that will not permit vaginal delivery. Example a big baby, first time mum with breech, previous c/s with short interval

CAN I SLEEP ON MY RIGHT SIDE DURING PREGNANCY?

Yes, sleeping on your right side during pregnancy is generally safe and cause no risk for both mum and baby .While there’s often a focus on sleeping on the left side, especially as pregnancy progresses, sleeping on either side is fine, particularly if it feels comfortable. Here are some key points to consider:

1. Left Side vs. Right Side

  • Left Side: Sleeping on the left side is often recommended because it can improve blood flow to the heart, uterus, and fetus, and may help kidneys efficiently eliminate waste.
  • Right Side: Sleeping on the right side is also safe. It helps to alternate positions and promotes comfort

2. Importance of Comfort

  • Ultimately, the most important thing is to find a comfortable sleeping position that allows you to get adequate rest.
  • Many doctors emphasize that side sleeping (either left or right) is preferable to back sleeping after the first trimester, as lying on your back can put pressure on major blood vessels and may affect circulation. This can reduce blood supply to the baby and mum .

3. Using Support

  • A maternity or body pillow can make side-sleeping more comfortable, offering support for your belly, back, and legs.
  • Placing a pillow between your legs can also help keep your spine aligned and reduce discomfort.

4. Listening to Your Body

  • If you feel discomfort or dizziness while sleeping on your right side, it might be a sign to adjust your position.
  • Always consult your healthcare provider if you have specific concerns, as every pregnancy is unique.

Getting enough rest is essential during pregnancy, so choose a side that allows you to sleep well, and feel free to switch between your left and right as needed.

BIRTH STORY – I COLAPSED AT THE HOSPITAL.

PLEASE LISTEN TO YOUR DOCTORS/MIDWIVES

EDD 3/10/24
DOB 16/09/24

First of all big thanks to Jehovah our God for his kindness, and also to the midwives and class members.
My Pregnancy was very smooth from beginning but during the third trimester I was admitted around 29 weeks for preterm labor and UTI infection then later discharged, around 37 weeks I was admitted again for severe malaria and UTI infection and discharged again and I was given an option for CS but I said they should give me two more weeks, I went for my review at 38 weeks and I collapsed in the hospital. When they checked my urine there was protein in my urine so I was booked for immediate cs.

When I got into the theatre immediately the anesthesia was given my BP started going down and they operating me,.

My advice is that anytime you’re given an option about CS think about it well.

My baby was brought out 4:25 pm at 3.2 kg week 38. Thank God mother and baby are fine and discharged. Safe delivery to all expectant mums.

Don’t leave your pregnancy to chance.

Sally.. Mums always know before a doctor or midwife will request for a procedure for you, they know what they have seen and in most cases its important. Always cooperate with them or ask a second opinion from a qualified person. Don’t risk your life!

AFTER PAINS/LOWER ABDOMINAL PAINS AFTER BIRTH

🔴Have you ever wondered why you had that lower abdominal pains after birth? Even becoming worse during breastfeeding? It feels like a painful menstruation. This is why..

🔴The uterus for the past 9 months have expanded to accommodate your growing fetus.

🔴After birth it contracts to get back into its normal shape and size. By 6 weeks after birth it should go Back to its pre pregnancy state.

🔴The contraction/pain you feel helps the uterus to become smaller and as well go back to its pre pregnancy state. Yes it’s painful especially if it’s a subsequent birth.

🔴As you breastfeed the uterus contracts since the hormone #oxytocin is also produced. It is responsible for the contractions that causes the lower abdominal pains.

✔️This pain can be managed by taking some prescribed analgesics and also sleeping on the abdomen. If you had a Caesarian section assume a comfortable position.

✔️Have enough rest, passive exercise and adequate hydration is also helpful.

🔴If lower abdominal pain is very severe with profuse bleeding. Speak to a doctor /midwife

TYING THE WOMB AFTER BIRTH

TYING THE WOMB AFTER BIRTH
For many women how they look and feel becomes an important aspect of postpartum recovery.

During pregnancy the uterus grows from being a pelvic organ to an abdominal organ.
There is an increase in shape and size which is very significant.

For the abdomen during pregnancy, there are many other factors that determine the size of your bump

Abdominal fat, gas, mass, size of the baby or fluid. All these can affect how the abdomen looks like even after pregnancy.

It’s important to Tackle all these if you want the abdomen to look flat after birth

The uterus in itself takes about 6 weeks to go back into its pre-pregnancy state. So you need to be patient with your self

The first is for you complete your
postpartum period. For the uterus to contract, make sure your blood level is high before delivery. Low blood level can cause bleeding and uterus will not contract .

In case you notice bleeding or any form of severe pain report early. Retained products can prevent your womb from contracting . Also your midwife can teach you how to rub the uterus so it contracts. Also breastfeed your baby it helps the uterus to contract.

Contractions of the uterus is what will make the uterus look smaller.

Other things you can do to get the womb or abdomen reduced is by burning the fat you accumulated during pregnancy. Exclusive breastfeeding helps, Exercise and also choosing the foods you eat is very important.

After birth the water in your body will also come out as urine in the first few weeks and this also helps to reduce your weight .

You should also choose the foods you eat carefully to reduce gas in the abdomen. If you have any mass, eg fibroids etc , see a gynaecologist and plan how it can be removed

When it comes to tying the abdomen after birth, it can be done from the first day after birth if the woman had vaginal birth . There should be some considerations, You should feel well and comfortable, it should not be tight on you and you should be able to breathe without struggling. Also choose a binder that works and fits perfectly. If you feel pain, uncomfortable, or experience any complications, stop and report to your doctor. It should not be tight. Start gradually and don’t wear it for a long period of time. You can prolong the time as you heal. Follow the recommended duration given by the manufacturer of the abdominal binder or cosset you use. It should be approved for medical use by the governing body in your country

If you can cesarean section I advise you wait until the wound has healed and your doctor allows you to use it. Do not tie your abdomen just after cesarean section except it’s for the sole reason of promoting comfort and reducing pain. In that case the abdominal binder should be loosely applied. Also speak to your doctor first

In conclusion combining a healthy diet, exercise, self care and using an abdominal binder can help you get your postpartum body back into shape and improve a positive self image

You can also speak to coach who will help you better in your journey

Remember no matter what you are beautiful!

THIS IS ENCOURAGING: EXCLUSIVE BREASTFEEDING WORKS

“My babies birth weight was 2.9kg

At 6 weeks he was 4.6kg

and at 10 weeks he was 6.1kg.

He’s growing really well even though he was small at birth.

Just breastmilk I give him.

Nothing at all”

What is needed is a healthy baby at birth, not a big baby!

CAN MY HUSBAND OR SUPPORT PERSON BE WITH ME IN THE LABOR ROOM?

Yes , men are allowed to enter the labor room and support their wives or partners during birth

But then ,this also depends on the environment. The hospital or birth centre must provide privacy so it does not make other women feel uncomfortable.

Partner support during birth is so helpful as it helps the woman to feel confident and supported. It also provides a safe environment where she feels heard and safe.

The husband or partner’s involvement also helps him to feel involved in the birth process. It also allows the family to bond.

Many men who experience the birth process talk about how it has changed their perception towards birth. They get to understand what women go through which makes them understand them better. They are able to offer better support

Some birth classes teach men how they can support their partners during the labor. They are also thought how they can cope with the stress of labor

If you want your partner to be present at birth ask about the hospital protocols, privacy and how you can both be prepared for that amazing moment

Let me add that women who are supported through pregnancy and labor by their partners have better outcomes than women who are not supported

CLEANING THE PERINEUM FROM THE FRONT TO BACK

The vulva is the outer part of the female Reproductive system. Its what you see when a woman open her legs wide.

It has the vagina opening and the urethral opening.

Just below it is the anus.. Where fecal matter is excreted from the body.

These openings are close to each other. It means infection can easily pass from one opening to the other if you don’t clean well.

Its important to clean yourself after using the washroom from front to back. Meaning you clean from the Urethral opening, towards the vagina opening then the rectum.

This will prevent sending infection from the rectum into your vagina and urinary tract.

Always maintain strict personal hygiene and also wear clean and comfortable underwear preferably made from cotton.

Its important to keep your perineum clean and dry to prevent infection.
